Happy New Year! (Challenge Introduction - Day 1: 3 January)
We did it!
We threw open the doors to kick out 2020 and welcome, with open arms, 2021. For me, the decision to skip the tradition of writing out resolutions was a big one. I made a conscious effort to decide against large goals and focus on all the small stuff instead: remember to drink enough water, try to put down the phone a little more, keep up with the laundry, and get outside the house more often.
I love these little 30-day challenges that help us become better versions of ourselves. Some have a larger, more defined goal (30 days to toned abs, 30 days to a more organized house, one month of zen) and others are meant to just make us a little better at what we already do.
In comparison, I get frustrated when 'guru's assume we all snack on $8 coffees daily, have subscriptions we didn't know we had, or can afford to spend 2 hours a day at the gym. So for this month, I will be sending you daily tidbits and meditations to focus on: just little things we can do un under five minutes that have no other end goal than to make us feel a little better. No promises, no huge investments or sacrifices, just a few moments of zenergy just for you.

Make Your Bed
Taking that extra minute in the morning to make your bed will help prepare you for the rest of the day. McCraven says that by making your bed every day, you will have accomplished the first task of your day which will then inspire you to do another, and another, and another. It gives you a sense of pride and purpose simply by making your bed.
Start by taking all the sheets, blankets, and pillows off your bed and spritz with a natural fabric softener (Recipe Below). Make your bed and fluff your pillows then carry on with your day; you can even karate-chop the tops to give them that staged look! You will come home to a more refreshing atmosphere and a crisp bed at the end of a long day will help you relax!
Natural Fabric Softener:
Add all these ingredients into a spritz bottle and label. Spritz 1-2 times as often as desired to freshen hard-to-clean items such as beds and couches (Links in this article may compensate me if you choose to use them).
That's it for today, get up tomorrow morning and make your bed!
